Holy Library Conference, Batman!
So many books and people and panels and things to see. I attended the American Library Association’s Annual Conference that was held this year in Chicago. The library let me stay downtown at the Hyatt. That worked out so nicely.
I wanted to do a quick post about all the ARC’s I decided to take home with me from the Conference. It’s so hard not to just pick up every single book you see. Unfortunately, you can’t carry a million books with you on the train home.
The past few days at work have been so much fun! This year we went all out for May the Fourth – so much so that we expanded the Star Wars fun to Friday and Saturday (Revenge of the Fifth/Sixth).
Friendly PSA that this week is National Library Week!
Go support your local library!
Your librarians do their best to make sure you have all best titles on their shelves and in your hands. They are always open to your suggestions.
More than just materials (books, cds, dvds, audiobooks, econtent), libraries: host/provide for book clubs; put on programming for adults, young adults, and children; provide access to internet; give individuals safe, quiet spaces; give others collaborative work space; provide reference and technology assitance; and much, much more.
Go show them some love and let your local, state, and national leaders how much you benefit from libraries!
Full Disclosure: I graduated with my MLIS almost a year ago now and have had my full-time librarian position since June.
